I am planning on getting 2 JL 12w7's and am wodering about what amp to use. I know what I SHOULD do is buy the JL 1000/1 but after spending close to a grand to get the subs, another grand for an amp is hard to do. I used to have an Audiobahn A8000t and it was awesome. It put out 400 rms @ 4 ohms, and 800 rms @ 2 ohms. Since the W7 is is a 3 ohm sub, the amp would put out 600 rms. The sub is rated at 750. Even if I could afford the 1000/1, I would only get 500 to each sub. So if I am thinking this through right, I would get more out of the Audiobahn and only spend like $130. On the other hand, it's stupid to pay that much for the subs just to screw them up with a cheap amp. What do you guys think?
