I was told that the big G5 series produced by ADSt during the DEI buyout had a higher than usual failure rate when run at 1 ohm mono. By higher than usual, I'm talking a 50% failure rate which prompted a production halt on the HCCA 250 and 275 g5. IIRC DEI was left holding the warranty bag for the ADSt screw ups on that last series of amplifier.
I even had a HCCA 225 G5 that was given to me after a friend blew it up and had it repaired under warranty and it was in a generic white box with a DEI return address when it was given to me. He just left it in his closet and called me a couple of years ago asking if I wanted it.
