will just reduce output i believe

more resistance = less wattage.

why aer you running your fronts at 8ohms? Home theater speaks?

yeah, just wanted to get a little extra sound up front.

yeah you'll see 1/2 power, with probably the same volume, better for the headunit, not worse.
