will avh-p5000dvd read hard drives?

i have a avh-p5000dvd (usb capable) and i recently purchased a 200 gig ext. hard drive... just reformated it to 32 and it still wont read... is it capable and if so what am i doing wrong?

Try partitioning a smaller drive in it and leaving the rest of the space unallocated. It should read FAT 32 just fine, Im not sure why youd want to try and navigate 200GB of music on a HU though, having 8GB is a chore without an iPod

Well i got a bunch of 8gig flash drives i just get tired of switching between all of them so i was just gonna try it out and see how i liked it... but thanks and im gonna give that a shot and hopefully i can get it to work out!!!

changed it to fat32 (was ntfs or something dont exactly remember) and it worked
