Most likely not enough to charge it, but it should play the tracks from it easily enough.

Needs to have a certain amount of voltage/current going to it to charge. Most of those HUs just see the iPod as a CD changer and you don't charge CD changers...

I believe Apple changed from 5v to 12v to charge their phones/iPod after the 3GS. There is a Scosche Passport adapter that will allow you to charge newer devices.

USB is ALWAYS 5v.

No it isnt. There is a reason that newer phones cant be charged by some headunits. Its because they switched from 12v to a 5v solution. The Scosche Passport combats this exact issue. After the iPod Touch 2nd gen is when this adapter is required.

No, USB spec is *always* 5v. Look it up, USB spec does however have a difference between 1A and 2.1A however. A new spec is in the works for higher powered devic, ut its still 5V, just highered amperage. The reason HUs cannot charge some units is the 1A-2.1A gap or they do not have enough amperage to even deliver 1A full
