Have a 12" RD Heavyweight and a Sundown SAZ-3000D tied at 1ohm with stock battery up front and Kinetik HC2000 and HC1400 in the back with Big 3 done all 1/0 with 300amp fuses
On my fuse by the stock batt there is a digital voltmeter that reads 14.7 when i turn on the car and at first when i turned up the sub it wouldnt even drop, maybe at the lowest 14.6. I already have a HO 220amp alt for my car so should i even worry about getting it installed?
One thing i did check is the voltage going in at the speaker terminals, and from my voltmeter it peeked around 26 volts, which translates to less than 700 watts from my calculations. But when i look at the sub it is MOVING and it's already really loud. Is there something I'm missing? I can understand that the voltage isn't dropping because of low power, but then why is the sub moving so much?
One other note, i set the amp with a 50hz tone at 25/40 volume for about 2800 watts (to make sure it didnt go to high while i was breaking it in) using the jl tutorial. Since then I have turned down the sub output to '-20' for the break in period and raised it to '-15' since, which again makes sense with the low power output. I guess i'm just wondering if i turn it up on the HU, even though i see it moving a lot now, will it damage the sub? It's brand new and i don't want it bottoming out...
For everyone that read all that and is willing to help THANKS!
