will a mono amp draw the same at 2 and 4 ohms?

it's been way too many years since i've done a full install. if i have an amp that can be run mono at 4 or 2 ohms, does it draw the same regardless of how i have it wired?

if it puts out the same amount of power at both loads then yes,,how ever most amps will put out alot more when the 4 ohm is dropped to 2 ohm so power consumption will also go up.
