Why own (1) Land Rover... when you can own 2 ? - Mud truck pix..

the 04 cant be a rover it's a BMW
You're an idiot and an *******.
BMW ownership was before the current owner (Ford).

2000: BMW breaks up the Rover Group and sells Land Rover to Ford for £1.8 billion

His '96 however is a BMW, if thats how you want to play. I on the other hand don't find ownership to "define" an auto division. For the most part they operate on their own, save for a few borrows from parts bins. Nothing major enough to say it isn't a Rover though. I guess a Mercedes is just a 300C? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Man, I love Land Rovers, but that must get sh*t gas mileage. The new high performance ones are.... *cream*

Seriously, when they drive by I have to look. Dropped, nice ground effects... nice sound. But, still, it probably gets like 2 mpg.

uhh, dont do drugs...how am I a *******???

Anyway I was just asking, I know that when they were the true british rovers they had some nice stuff in them (aside form the engine ******) hence why you can buy adapters and drop SBC and 4l50e s and what not into them, they had AWSOME running gear, super burly ***** cases, solid axles boxed frames etc etc. Then BWM and they became more of a status symbol then a safari truck (like the defender vs, the new supercharged one), like putting the air suspension on (though I know the last rovers had it). It just seems that a rover isnt what it used to be, I dont mean that in a bad way, it's just a diffrent truck (or I should say car) now.

ummm...

both my rovers new and older have boxed frames, rock solid drivetrain )both V8s with a lotta balls..) transmissions that lockup solid for the low end, transfer cases that provide 4wd High range all the time, and 4 low with a center diff locker...

both have solid axles and solid drive shafts with CV joints instead of U-Joints...

both are coil spring suspension with 3 link rear and 4 link fronts...

if you want, i can take some pix underneath and show almost no mechanical difference between the 1990s and the 2004... but hey.. what do i know..

You weren't just asking. You stated it was a BMW. Falsely I might add in an attempt to rain on his parade.

can there be somw MORE rain for my parade? we're hitting Richloam this weekend and more rain = more mud.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Is a Range Rover in the same family? Never cared for this kind due to it being so boxy and looks very top heavy not something I would think would be that great for off-roading but the masses have proved me wrong.

However the ranger rover is a straight pimp mobile.

i definitley like the white one better! something not right about a clean truck!

for the guy talking about the bmw rover's, for the 02 and 03 model range rovers, bmw v8's were used. that's it. all discovery's were land rover top to bottom.

now, all v8's in the range rovers and land rovers are jaguar engines! the lr2 has a volvo engine. the freelander engine was engineered and designed by bmw but built by rover. absolutely terrible pos engine. never buy one.
