Why me..... now noise from processor.

I finally got my system noise free in our Tahoe install that actually required different amps as the Zeds for some reason found some kind of interference I couldn't find. Now I have a PPI 730 processor hooked up and even with volumes down have a fair amount of hiss. The big problem is though after about ten minutes of running it the rear speakers start popping fast and loud. I have the PPI powered off that rear amp, can that possibly do something like that?

It really sounds like you're getting some kind of oscillation in the power supply of that amp. I'm assuming that you wired the power wires of the processor into the power terminals of the amp? If so an oscillation would affect the processor, too as it is getting power ripples from the amp.

I don't have any personal experience with the quality of the new PPI stuff, but I do know that one of the higher end shops around here dropped the PPI line because of the drop in quality in the last few years since the DEI buyout. You might just have a bad processor causing the hiss. Sounds like a noise floor issue.

What causes the oscillation? Could that be a related issue to the Zeds making all that noise? Maybe the hiss isn't real bad, but before the PPI it was noise free once I installed the other amps. Thing is initially that cheapo rear amp made noise in this install, now it's fine with the Zeds out. The Tahoe has been a gremlin for sure.
