Why is this Happening?

Suspect list;
1. Ground -Needs to be shiny, robust, metal part of car

2. Power -Make sure the connections at both ends are secure and the battery connection point isn't corroded. Also verify that the voltage at the amp isn't dropping below 12 volts while it's playing. (DMM) Make sure your 6 gauge cable can handle the 50-60 amp current draw. Is it CCA or OFC?

3. ventilation -make sure there's plenty of space around the amp. Also make sure both cooling fans and air passages are clear.
A local car audio shop installed everything except the power wire so its not the ground. Connections are secure. Cables are ofc. amp has PLENTY of breathing room. so idk bout to just not worry about it should be getting a new amp in a couple months anyways. hopefully a 1200 watt mono

People in car audio shops are still people, and people make mistakes. I agree that professional installation greatly lowers the possibility of a bad ground, but I would caution that it doesn't eliminate it.

If you have a voltmeter, check the voltage at the power connections on the amp when it's working hard. If the voltage drops below 12 volts, the problem is probably with your electrical. (alt, battery, cables, connections, ground etc.)

If the voltage stays comfortably above 12.5 volts at the amp and it's overheating, the problem is most likely in the amp, the sub(s) or the connection between them.

(amp is prime suspect if voltage stays good under heavy load)

voltage drop or a bad power/ground connection will not cause an amp to get hot (unless the bad connection is at the amp itself).

My guess is an intermittent short.. speaker wire shorting, tinsel leads shorting, or the like...

I have experienced bad grounds and low input voltages causing overheating issues.

It's not so much the ground/low voltage as much as it is the amp's reaction to them>>>>>heat. (of course different protection schemes result in different reactions, but excessive heat is on the list)
