We've (almost) all had people we looked up to in this hobby. Back when I was green, I had a couple locals I thought were the shit. Looking back now, mostly they were average guys with slightly above average knowledge of the hobby. But those people will remain in my thoughts, as part of this hobby, forever. Be glad and proud you've become one of those people, and help your 'friend' advance in this hobby as other people have done for you. One of my car audio role models was an installer from a local BestBuy. By now he's probably working at some lame job, but I will always remember him as one of the people who helped me get into what has become a lifelong passion of mine. I dont know where that guy is today, but if I met him on the street, Id shake his hand, and thank him for being patient with me and helping me learn. Be a role model, you'll be glad you did.

Yep, I missed your post Holic but you hit the nail on the head.

Along with that I will say that coming into the car audio world can be intimidating and if the first guys he meets are all assholes it can really turn someone off the hobby and that shouldn't be our goal. I can still remember how pretentious and rude some of the competitors were at the first event I ever attended (didn't even compete, was just spectating). We represent the hobby as a whole and believe it or not, can single handily turn people on or away from it.

funny how people go to a car audio store because their friends said they are good. kind of funny when you are a professional and legit people are a suspicious of you but will go give money to someone to install a system who has "AVOID ME" written all over them. the kid who lives down the steet went to a enterainment store that sells used dvds, vhs, video game, ect and also happens to install car audio. they guy told him he can get 2 memphis pr's with an amp and box for $500 and he knows believes they are top of line stuff. you cannot argue with these people either.

This must be the guy that used to live here that blew his Talon back glass out 15' with 2 JBL 15s. Oh, he also metered it at 247db.

I like having the bass that makes other people's dashes flex. The looks are a given. ; )

I was selling my MB Quart ONX1.1500D to a friend.

He tried to connect the amp to some 16 gauge speaker wire for his power wire...he has his old boss amp on that. I gave him my old wire kit lol, wasn't gonna let him blow up the amp like that.

Ready for more lulz? Here's a friend who insisted that I needed a capacitor...

I get the same way. I just have to take a step back and breath and try to better explain.

It is worse with enclosures though. I get many who ask me to generate a design(or even an enclosure) and when we go over the specs they inform me that I am wrong and Joe and Jane have XXXft3 with XX tuning and that is what works best so that is what they want. Gets old, but just how some people are. I just tell them i will do what ever they want as after all it is their enclosure. I just toss in a disclaimer on the design/build that I am not liable for damage created or the sound reproduced by the enclosure.

i charge 150 for locals and i usually carpet them before they leave my shed lol. no one likes paint...

on the others about try and help him. ive tried for a while and get no where. i may keep trying but for the past hour he has argued how a cap can help. and i also have to explain how current can travel more in a bigger wire... i stopped after he told me he was louder than me and started talking trash. but ill post more up when i get the chance i belive
