why fibreglass?

no mustard gas is freon + propane //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

and fiberglass resin will catch fire. one time i had about 2" in the bottom of a cup that had hardened, so i popped it out lit it on fire even chucked it across the parking lot...it was a cool little fireball //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I know freon makes mustard gas, I can smell it from time to time while working.

I makes a very very deep/brilliant blue when it burns, looks pretty. HOLD YOU FRIGGIN BREATH and gtfo when you see that flame.

Dangerous stuff!

Happens alot when brazing off a few pipes from a compressor changeout. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I take it you are an a/c tech too I thought I may have seen a post stating so.

newbie questions, whats the point of fiberglassing a box?
are we doing this because it's stronger?

lighter?

or just for ease of making awkward shapes?

fiberglass pound for pound is stronger than steel, it can be made as strong as mdf yet lighter . But the biggest reason is the awkward shapes. I starting using fiberglass originally , to squeeze every cubic inch out of the space I had to work with. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
