not many shows in my area. there are a couple that will pop up here and there, but I dont really like to drive for an hour or more to get to the comp. rich kids have mommy and daddy buy their systems and everyone else thinks they couldnt compete because they arent as loud. they dont understand that competitions are broken up into classes and most of the time would not even be in the same classes as the people much louder than them.

i spend to much money on collecting amps.........i am addicted to car amps...not speakers, not cd players, etc......but just straight car amps......i have a problem and i dont know how to kick the habit...........but at least im honest about it......//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
i kinda know what you mean there lol.

there are various competition organizations with many many classes to fit all sorts of set ups.

from something small and simple to something crazy.. so there is no need to worry about getting beaten or having to go up against the "big guys" so to speak.. there are various classes to suit everyones needs.

no if its a money issue and other stuff then thats a different story

because i don't want to be really loud, just loud enough for a daily setup. I love music and as long as my stereo sounds clean and can get pretty loud that is good enough for me.

+ i don't have a ton of money for it either

we need more shows here, went to one last year, did ok, couple trophies. i need a vehicle that i can put a little more into and get alot more out of. my deville is ideal for loud, the van is for the family(5 kids between me and my gf), my work car is just that so this spring i plan to buy something that i can put some time and money into to do more comps.

I get what you are saying but there are still so called big boys in every class. Like crx's in the lowest stock class and street class. I don't see some local coming up in a trunk car being able to stay on thier level.

There's a fair number of shows with SQ judging around here, car audio just hasn't been a priority for me because I'd rather spend my money on home audio or other things.

Once I sell my sub and Tantrum 1200.1, I'll just have a pair of Memphis 6.5's, an Alpine 9835 and a 2 channel amp in the van. It makes sound, has better dynamic range than something off a head unit alone, and that's all I really care about.

theres a severe lack of shows in my neck of the woods, but thats not the main reason.

i've been to a few comps all over the south before, and i really didnt like the attitudes most competitors have. im not sure if its just a regional thing, but im sick of guys who really have no knowlege of theory or application when it comes to audio, just that "da 18s beat on da jeezy". the problem is that they are correct. you CAN win comps by having a shop throw a couple 18s in a huge box with a ghetto-rigged sony amp and get loud...louder than me...and have absolutly no idea why. you can't carry on a reasonable conversation with someone like that, and when they give you advice ("cerwin vega is dat loud shit..get 8 of dose w/ them new 5000 watt JLs. my cuz broke all hiz winduh wid it"), you cant refute because they have been awarded and you have not. straying away from audio talk just leads to talk of ***, booze, and smoke...which is great and all when im not trying to gain/share knowledge pertinant to the event.

two notes:

*i am not butthurt by loosing. my system is very loud and sounds great, and if someone doesnt like it thats thier perogative

*any slang dialect above is not meant to be racist. most of those guys are rich white dudes. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Check the MECA calender for shows in your area. We'll be adding more as the year goes on.
