theres a severe lack of shows in my neck of the woods, but thats not the main reason.
i've been to a few comps all over the south before, and i really didnt like the attitudes most competitors have. im not sure if its just a regional thing, but im sick of guys who really have no knowlege of theory or application when it comes to audio, just that "da 18s beat on da jeezy". the problem is that they are correct. you CAN win comps by having a shop throw a couple 18s in a huge box with a ghetto-rigged sony amp and get loud...louder than me...and have absolutly no idea why. you can't carry on a reasonable conversation with someone like that, and when they give you advice ("cerwin vega is dat loud shit..get 8 of dose w/ them new 5000 watt JLs. my cuz broke all hiz winduh wid it"), you cant refute because they have been awarded and you have not. straying away from audio talk just leads to talk of ***, booze, and smoke...which is great and all when im not trying to gain/share knowledge pertinant to the event.
two notes:
*i am not butthurt by loosing. my system is very loud and sounds great, and if someone doesnt like it thats thier perogative
*any slang dialect above is not meant to be racist. most of those guys are rich white dudes. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
