I bought a JL amp 300/2 (to run my CDT comps) off ebay. Got it in and it was blown. That's fine, sent it off to JL audio to get factory repaired($110). Came back 8 weeks later, still broken. Sent it back in, again. 10 weeks later came back working. Guess the extra two weeks really helped them:rolleyes: . They told me they replaced the board, whatever, didnt care because it worked.

Now 98 days later its blown again, same problem. Amp tells me that the Ohm load is too low. Said screw it went and stole my wife's audiobahn amp(she likes it, its shiny and pretty) my comps work perfectly.

The warranty is only 90 days on JL crap returned to the factory and I have to fight them to take back their paperweight and turn it back into an amp so I can dump it off on craigslist. A lot of people here seem to ride the JL tip, So how has your experience been with them? The Amp just seems dumb, "RIPS technology" just seems like a stopgate for people that are too dumb to make every other amp work for them.

So frustrated with JL, can anybody think of a reason why they wotnt warranty the amp? Is it something I did wrong? I have it on an amp rack with my hifonics amp and thats been running like a champ and its been running longer. Just frustrated and need help so I don't get screwed over by JL...

Mistake 1, you bought a used JL amp off ebay, which was broken, and your didnt dispute/return it. the original owner probably hammered on it

Mistake 2, user error

Mistake 3, you're wrong

actually I did dispute the transaction. got all my money back and the guy didn't want to pay have it shipped back so I got the amp for free .

Free amp off ebay, 9 times out of 10 I'd take that deal. I just thought that JL could build amps, since they replaced the board second time around. First time I had a local dealer bench test it and it wouldn't power up both channels.

If you got it for free, why complain? FTW either way it's free!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

doesnt matter where he originally bought it. It's the fact he sent it in for factory refurb/repair and it comes back broken. Either he keeps breaking them somehow, or the people at the factory are a bunch of cheap corner/cost cutting slackers..

JL Audio makes good subs. back in the day before the original stroker came out they were the best sq and spl woofer you could get.Not only were they loud but they sounded great. I ran 6 12w6 (the old ones) back in the 90's and was killin with them. Better woofers just came along after that. I dont know too much about the new subs they got now becasue i switched to DD's in 99. the rest is history.lol

JL sux anymore. I have 6 Old skool W3 12s Got loud in my tahoe in sealed box. I got 6 W3V2 12S AND THEY ARENT THAT LOUD AT ALL
I didn't care for my pair of 10w3v2s in JL Audio's recommended sealed enclosure with 1000 watts RMS going to them. They woke up in 3 cubic feet ported tuned to 33 Hz though.

I was just running a pair of CDT components that have been in the car for a while. Ohm load is at 4 per channel. Its sad that the audiobahn amp is more reliable and better sounding than the JL. Complete piece of crap multiple times, even from the factory!

how do you break an amp right out of the box!? thats my biggest gripe.
