Why does DD rec. Tuning 40hz?

Why does DD recommend.tuning their subs at 40hz? Isn't that more towards SPL and will have high peaks not suitable for listening to music?

DD recommends tuning the box to 40hz cause most people just want that peaky loud bass

My DD box is tuned to 40 hz and it sounds AMAZING, hits lows really hard as well as the highs. Definately surprised me.

dd are spl subs... high tuning is kinda the point of getting them...

Their subs are designed to work well in those enclosures. Tuning much lower will cause them to be even more power hungry and will draw a peak around tuning. It will also help them meter higher which will give their subs a rep of being loud. They also have pretty stiff suspensions which helps out a lot below tuning since the pressure in the enclosure quickly drops off below tuning.

HUH! I have 3515 and well it sounds ****ing good. So i dunno what the **** you all are listening too... Maybe DD with no mids or tweets but i could be wrong.

we're talkin more bout the 95xx and above subs... theyre more geared towards spl

you guys are soo funny dd's arent made to be spl subs. they just became popular because theyre know for handling tons of power therye all made to sound good .and about the higher tuning thing if ya wanna tune lower then 35hz get composite cones and you will have amazing subwoofers....

i run 2 crossfire 2000s on a 9515 daily and it sounds great.....

i have my dd9515 in a 5 cube box tuned to 30 hrtz and it sounds great.

I bet you woulda broke 150 at 40hz tuning and still done a low 40s on 33hz burp
