i have a sundown sae 1000d, and the specs say 0 guage power input. so i got the rockford fostgate (pretty reputable brand) 0 gauge 1500 watt amp wiring kit. when i go to plug it into my amp, it is like 1/3 too big. i would say a good 1/4 inch too big probably. first of all, why is this. and second of all is it ok to cut off wire to make it the right size, and then just clean the end up nice, and electrical tape around the stubs? someone said this is ok, im fine with doing that if it is not going to make my system jerry riged, if im goin big, i want it to be clean, thanks for your responces ahead of time. kevin

Trimming the wire is fine.

Not all 1/0 is the same size. For instance, my kicker 1/0 is quite a bit larger than my welding supply 1/0. It too barely fits into my amp (kicker zx2500). I have to get it in there absolutely perfect for it to not get all smashed up.

why dont they just make amps and fuse/distros to where you can fit a regular size 1/0 wire into the "1/0 opening"
