Why did JL do this?

I mean the 13.5 has many different advantages as MyFartStink stated, and once again I will say that there will be much more output out of the 13.5
humm. interesting. i honestly thought that there would only be a small differnce. just JL's way of charging an *** load more for a slightly better sub.

can you post pics of it?
i can when i get off work unless jamesypoo has some from when he had it.

it's a freakin beefy box. more than 3/4". i havent taken a tape to it to see what it is though. but it has the black plexi and grill on it if you know what i'm talking bout.

Maybe they made is 13.5" specifically so that you COULDN'T just use a prefab box... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
exactly, they do dual 1.5, so you can get the most power out of their amps, so youll buy jl amps. 13.5 so you cant prefab the box. Different coil size probly 3.5 but not sure, but I know they dont make coils the size of jl's unless you get it from jl somehow. They dont want you to to save money because they want you to buy their boxes amps and subs. and I heard their boxes sound great for the jls

does make sence. the box does sound great for the hour or so i used it. i had to take it out again so i could fit x-mas stuff in there and havn't got a chance to put it in. i'm running mine at .75 if i'm correct. i just turn the gain back some so i don't go overboard.

no, its dual 3....so your running 1.5

maybe, but is it that much of a differnce?
edit: one crappy thing is it's hard to find a prefab box for one.
I thought the same thing. Add in the 1" and greater excursions and it does start to add up.

Same could be said about a 12 over a 10. It's just two inches....

Here's a chart that shows just how much difference:

13W1v2 can move 64% more air than a 12W1v2.

13W3v3 can move 54% more air than a 12W3v3.

13W6v2 can move 69% more air than a 12W6v2.

13W7 can move 39% more air than a 12W7.

gotta. so i'm still within range of my amp without going to low.

good find. i almost never go to that site, so i havn't had a chance to see that.

yes they do. but the use a odd *** wire termanal (sp?) on it. the box i have is missing it. so i plugged it over and drilled a hole small enough for the wires to go though and sealed it. works fine now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i do like the idea of the regulated amps. even if they do it mainly for they're subs, it's still a handy feature. with that you don't have to really worry as much about your vc config.
