You can also take good screen shots with virtualdub if you have that lying around for avi editing or something.

basically, print screen works BEFORE your video card, most videos etc (like in WMP) use hardware acceleration. If you go into to tools>options>performance (in wmp) and turn hardware acceleration to 'none', you can use the print screen button. Most other programs have this option somewhere too...
