I like you.So out of 20 blacks that you grew up around, you'd sit down to dinner with 2?
Just where is this "heart of the Ghetto"? I grew up on the west side of Chicago. Until I got in the working world, the only whites I dealt with on a constant basis were teachers. And I hated 90% of them. But even then, that did not form my opinion of whites. It was kinda tripped out learning about MY history from them. Having them try and sugarcoat it or try and take some of the sting out.
But to me the way you view blacks is based off of the neighborhood you grew up in. Had you grew up around more successful diverse group of people your outlook would be different. Your neighborhood does not make up the world. Your 20 blacks on your block standing around dressing like what they see on tv doesn't as well. What you saw was their same sense of fear or hopelessness that your family had. You think you can go around some orange county douche bags and fit in? I highly doubt it.
