and how many successful attempts did machida have... 0!.. how many did he even attempt for that matter... 0!!!I don't agree that shogun was the aggressor. i don't consider unsuccessful takedown attempts "aggression." IMO Machida initiated more combat (thus giving shogun the ability to counter).
I also do not believe amount of strikes landed should determine who wins a round. Different strikes have different levels of impact on a fight. A fighter could land 20 jabs and do less damage than 1 leg kick. This is the reason I think judges don't take too much stock in amount of strikes thrown by a given competitor.
i agree 100% on the amount of strikes doesnt matter WHEN COMPARING IT TO.... more damaging strikes.. .but the fact of the matter is... Makita didnt have any of those damaging strikes, so your point of view on that is invalid in this fight... ALSO.. those let kicks werent like Forrest Griffins tiny little kicks.. those were all thrown at 90% strength, and all of them together through out the fight OBVIOUSLY did a lot of damage... you can't argue that
