i thought the book was very good. i kept reading it every day cuz i kept wanting to kno what happened. alot of mystery and intrigue in it. very interesting concept as well. IMO i thought the book was very good. hope the movie keeps up with the book.

well the book got me thinking alot on the subject of Jesus's secret marriage to Mary Magdalene and the bloodline of Jesus Christ and the documents and parchments to prove it aka the "holy grail" and a big huge treasure hunt around the world. it really does spark some debates and controversy. btw i get an error with that link..

first of all.. the Da Vinci Code is FICTION...

so they are trying to say that fiction is... fiction...

As for proving the rest of the stuff.. they weren't there, so they have just as much claim as the ideas proposed in the da vinci code.

Except for the fact that there are lost gospels that are not put in the bible.. some of which not yet translated. One is the gospel of Mary. It does hold truth that the bible wasn't exactly correct on several historical aspects.

yes i've heard about those as well.

and yes it is a fictional book with it's own flaws.

Constantine…held a gathering known as the council of Nicea….(325 A.D.) Until that moment in history Jesus was viewed by his followers as a mortal prophet…not the Son of God. (Page 233)

Party true. Christ was already recognized as the Son of God at the time. The counsel of Nicea was formed because, at the time, Christians were persecuted as the minority religion, but they were not unified. People would call themselves Christians "of Paul" or "of John" or basically "of" any of the desciples whos values they most strongly could identify with.

Because they were not unified, they could hold very little resistance against the persecution being wrought upon them. The Christians at the time decided that a council must be formed and certian things laid out. This is where the New Testiment came from. It's also where the Nicean creed came from. It's the reason that that the books of the bible in the New Testament are arranged in the order that they are.

It was, indeed, a political move on behalf of the religion.

I wrote my Philosophy thesis on this very Council... so I'm not exactly a stranger to the facts of this
