who here plays the stock market?

What do you mean by technical?
This all depends on your approach. Are you interested in investing in specific stocks, ETFs, or Funds?
Sorry, technical was definitly the wrong choice of words lol. I mean would it be a good book to start with as a beginner with little background info on stocks other than micro and macro economic courses.

Micro and macro teach you nothing about investing. Finance is what you want.

There is different types and strategies...

Do you want something where you "do" something every day; something you look at every now and again, or a mix?

Micro and macro teach you nothing about investing. Finance is what you want.
like stated, these courses give you an insight into the economy as a hole, but thats the point is that i have little background knowledge into this other than that and basic accounting courses(which have taught me more about stocks than econ classes)

but my original question is still is Jim Cramers book goign to be too advanced to start with since im a complete noob???

Jim Cramer is good guy, used to be a hedgie so he gives good insight. Cramer has good IPO plays if you watch his show, in addition to earnings play.

the thing is, next day after Cramer reccomends a play, it gets overbought real fast. Then it pulls back. If you watch them daily (as I do sometimes), you can short them after amateur hour, cover before 11 am, then go long. This is always consistent.

I reccomend paper trading first.

Flip made some good suggestions:

Here are a few alternative reads to get you started:

The Millionaire Next Door - Defines wealth, how wealth is built, and gives a great blueprint for a life long plan.

Beyond Greed and Fear (Shefrin) - Combines performance with "success" and really gives clarity to how emotions come into decision making. This will save you tons of money and help to provide moments of clarity when there would be none otherwise.

Trading & Exchanges (Harris) - Help to define purpose of markets, priceless information related to market structures, roles, and how liquidity is created and maintained.

I'll circle back later when I dig through my boxes, need to get some fundamental valuation texts in here too.

He is useful at best... entertaining and makes a ton of sense but please do not follow him as your primary source of investment analysis.

If you had 100k saved, you should be investing 5k or less into Cramer's strategies. He is a pure short-term investment strategist on his show. Notice how he rarely covers blue-chip companies and is always looking volatility plays.

The whole bulls make money, bears make money, but pigs get slaughterd theory only works for 6-12 month windows. Most of the time those pigs will outperform over a 5 year period.

like i said, i like volatility.

played HMGP earlier this year, nice 4400% gain. Now its been red, looking for reentry.

Stocks in portolio now

DORB- Chart play

GAXY - Pump and Dump play next week

AUZR - Nothing really, R/M

CLBE - Stem Cells, good news other day

PMCL - Wal mart possible
