who here has general garage door opener knowledge?

I have a slightly older garage door opener remote control, one of the 9 pin DIP types...and i want to be an older used reciever...the one i wanna buy says 318 MHz but my remote doesnt specify freq so what do i do? does the freq have to match exactly in order to operate or do any two DIP units go together ok?

you're in luck, this is what i do. yes the frequency has to match exactly. does the remote have a name on it, and if so what name and what does it look like? then i'll most likely be able to tell you if they're compatilble.

oh and i'll need to know the type of reciever you have and the model#. the model# should be on the back of the receiver below the dip switches

UNFORTUNATELY //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif the unit i had was actually broken...didnt get power, and the insides were all banged up (yes i pulled it apart, thats what i do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif )....so thats in the trash, and im putting that project on hold....when i pick it bak up, ill likely just buy the matching remote/reciever pair to make it simple
