I'm curious how others deal with this... I have to buy gifts for the immediate family (wife, kids) ... but do you buy gifts for mom, dad, brothers, sisters, nieces, ect?

I have 2 brothers, 1 sister, her husband, there kids, (2 girls 1 boy) Can I just get my mom something? SHOULD i try to give a gift to ALL my brothers AND sister too? What about her kids? (my nieces)

(dayum, I can't wait for Christmas to be over //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif )

yea MY wife and kids (of course) have been taken care of already, (and my mom too)

but I'm wondering if I buy something for 1 brother but nothing for my other brother and sister????? U think they'd be angry?

Cause dayum, I got alot of people to buy for if that's the case... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif(

I am going through the same problem almost. I have to buy a gift for my mom, dad, and grandfather first. Then I need to buy gifts for 7 of my friends and what's so bad about it is I'm very very low on cash atm. So I possibly won't be able to get everyone someone =(. I will probalby end up having to choose who gets something and who doesn't, really bums me out.

Yea, that sux, I might have to go with 3 cheap/cheezy gifts for my brothers and sister:crying: and I forgot about my secret santa at work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

I just buy for my immediate family. My gf takes care of her parents/siblings. We normally split the cost of the gifts so it works out well. if you are the only source of income, then I can see it being difficult.

If buying gifts for everyone is going to make you stretch your money thin/go broke, the I would get them a card or something very cheap. I wouldnt expect anyone to buy me a gift if it was going to make them have money problems. We all have holidays where it's just not feasible to make everyone happy.

If they dont understand that, screw them.

I told my girlfriend to pay tuition instead of getting me a gift. It is much better to have her piece of mind ( and not b*tching at me) than getting me a gift that if I wanted, I would have already bought.

I usually just get something nice for my wife and son, and put together a picture CD collection (family pictures from the digi-cam) and burn off a bunch of copies to send to everyone else in the family (1 per household) with a nice holiday card with a hand-written personalized note. I think that's good, for most folks.

You should at least make sure everyone knows you are thinking about them whether it is with a card or even something as simple as a phone call. You don't have to have some spending hierchy and rank people in level of importance so you know exactly how much you are willing to spend on each person. It really is just the thought that counts. It is always nice to recieve some material thing from someone you know, but as sappy as it sounds, it is the thought that counts. Anyone can gift wrap a $5 knick-knack, but a 10 minute phone call or a handwritten letter mean a great deal more and will be remembered more.

For me there is a hierchy. wife, kids first, MY mom, then I try to figure out a gift(s) for brothers, and sister...

1 of my brothers lives in San diego, so maybe a 10 dollar phone card for him, and a gas card or subway card for my youngest brother, (he loves subway lol) My sister is the though one, bein a girl and all I'm not sure what to get... suggestions????

every thanksgiving my family draws names. we then place a max amount we can spend on the gift, usually 20bux and then exchange them on xmas
We do that with the little kids (all the assorted cousins and whatnot who are young) in our family. The adults are pretty much left to fend for themselves! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
I buy for my parents, my sister, her hubby, and their two daughters, and my wife and my mother-in-law
