who competes in MECA

The issue I have is not persay with areo ports. More so with them in meca. Meca is meant as a daily driving league or use to be. If you gain more than a 1 db or so on one side of the car i personally don't consider that a normal daily driving system. it is just my opinion. Unless there is somethign I don't understand about aero ports. But from what I have been told it creates hottspots in the cars. That isn't true daily driving. as far as drags go. great. db drag is about maxium spl. meca was suppose to be about daily drivers that got loud. when you start to optimize your setup to spike the meter in a hot spot it isn't designed for daily anymore. it is designed for the hotspot. You have to understand again i am not against the use of them. just dont' like them in meca. Meca's bread and butter was the average joe. Now nobody wants to go because they have to go against a guy spiking an outragious number with a areo port

I am sorry that people get offended by the fact that I am attacking aero ports. and to my comment earlier about almost any idiot can get loud with that method. i didn't say world record. It is true. almost any idiot can make it loud by buying aero ports and building a small box and a termlab. with a normal ported box you have to do a good amount of rebuilds or good designs before you get it right if you are an idiot lol

MECA has always had "non-daily" vehicles or setups that won. However, MECA is definitely the most friendly to lower tuned, more daily type of installs. Headrest metering has leveled the playing field for that. A guy that can possibly get 2nd-3rd in MECA will be lucky to be in the top 10 in any db drag class.

How can you outlaw something as simple as aeroports? TONS of people use them for daily driver boxes nowadays. Outlaw those are you are just forcing more people out of MECA, which is what killed the org. in the first place. MECA has a knack for banning the things that loud people use in an effort to make things fair for everyone. Too bad it just makes competition more difficult for everyone, even more so for newcomers. No matter what rules they changed and what things they banned, the guys that won before continue to win now. Why? Because they build and test and optimize their setup.

Where does it stop from there? No 45's in the corners? No resin? No bracing? All of those things can gain you on the meter as well (and are used quite often in daily driver boxes)....

So what would define a daily driver box versus a "competition" box if they both had these things? Whoever is quieter is the daily driver? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

If people complain about losing to a guy with aeroports, here's an idea...USE THEM AND BEAT THEM! I'm not gonna stop using them just because some joe schmo whined about losing to me or anybody else. I don't care what org. it is or what the rules are, the people that test and build the most are the most likely to win.

Like I said before, I can make slot ports direct air just as well as an aeroport, I just choose to use aeros because of their versitility and ease of tuning. Plus I can reuse them.

A port is a port.

I agree about daily systems needing a place to compete, and being at a disadvantage when all the classes are flooded with 1 note wonders.

That is why I love Bass Race and Street Beat, it really evens up the playing field for the competitors that actually listen to their systems.

I think the key to daily drivers competing in any org is to put a cap on the frequency that is being metered. I think 50hz would be a nice reference point for most daily systems, anything above 50hz sounds pretty nasty and would eliminate CRX and Panda dominations in the supposed "street classes". A format similiar to this would bring alot of people back to the sport that have lost interest due to the burp builds.

Funny you mention that lol. I have been talking about for a year it would be awesome if bass race topped out 50 to 53hz range... And I dislike one note wonders as well.... And I hate them in meca because that for sure is the opposite of what the league was designed for

I don't think bassrace needs a frequency cap.

Bassrace is more about control than how loud you are.

However, streetbeat and other "daily driver" oriented org's could probably benefit from a frequency cap. I peak at 43 hz so I really won't have a problem there. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

MECA made quite a few rule changes to go to a more daily driver oriented format, but that only pushed competitors away. 26" rule in CRX's and the all headrest format come into mind, but the same guys who won before the rule changes are the same ones winning now.

All MECA could do now is basically ban certain cars and ban test tones, which will just end up pushing more people away.

Man I see what you are saying. But I think that has a lot to do with the massive amount of rules they have implemented through time. I know it sounds kinda odd suggesting another rule. But like for example. In mod /modex you can not add something to make the dashboard stronger (which cracking dashboards can be an issue). Now I know his concerns. But since meca is reality spl only now. Adding a sound deadener to the dash wouldn't affect the spl at all.

And I guess as I said in my books to be a daily driver really from one side of the vehicle to the other it shouldn't vary more than a DB. I am not saying this should be a rule. Just saying how I feel

Adding deadener to the dash could gain by making the dash heavier...it would probobly lose a little though.

You aren't going to crack your dash from SPL lol...

I helped build the worlds loudest super street van...171+ and the dash hasn't even thought about cracking
