It's not public knowledge who license plates are registered to. Anyone with access will not only lose their job and access to such information, but they will also be prosecuted for disseminating such information. Our dispatchers have to undergo a certification for that privelidge every 3 months. They sign an agreement saying they will not show the contents of any returned information from their queries to anyone BUT another certified agent. Anyone posting such information on here would be immediately found and terminated as the SOS and DHS simply do a search for who ran that particular plate at the time of the posting. Then they have the person who did it and they are fired and brought up on federal charges. This is not taken lightly. I know you need help, but the police are your only option here.
Actually, you are completely wrong sir, at least where I am from. In Michigan, if you have a license plate number, and want all the information, you go to the SOS, pay $20 and recieve all the information. A license plate is public information, hence why it is completely legal for a cop to run any plate he wants, anytime of the day. Also hence why you can go to SOS and pay $20 for all of the information on the plate.

I am the 911 coordinator for our area, so I am not wrong where I am from. It is also NOT at all legal for our cops to run anyone they wish. We get auditted on that. One time one of our officers ran an undercover state police vehicle and we were fined. Another time one of our dispatchers ran the governor and we were fined. Nothing is done right in michigan so I can see how they wouldn't care, but plates are not public knowledge in Illinois. I also find it very peculiar that they charge you for "public knowledge". It sounds like this is just someone trying to make 20 bucks on the side.

Like I said, at least in Michigan, it is legal. I have done it before. The only thing that happens, is they keep your name, adress, etc on file, when you get plate information. And what do you have against Michigan? Mad your not as poor as we are, or as obease?

HAHA It was a tongue in cheek remark. Michigan is in bad shape but Illinois isn't doing too great.

Yes I know, I was kidding. Not proud much at all of Michigan to be honest. I'm not a happy fan of living in Michigan, but don't see myself leaving anytime soon, haha.
