It's not about bending or stretching, its about identifying yourself in a way that has meaning. Who we really are encompasses every tiny detail about us that makes us unique from at least one other person. We only mention the things that can broadly separate us from whoever we are trying to distinguish ourselves from.

ie. if you went to another planet and met some aliens, you might tell them you are a human. But why would you tell any other human you are a human as a way of describing yourself? It doesn't hold meaning to another human, and it doesn't distinguish you in a useful way from anyone else.

a mix of psychological and philosophical. i'm thinkin along the lines of 'follow your bliss'. what is your bliss?? what makes you deeply happy? how would you know that this particualr thing makes you happy? if you reply 'well, cause i know me', well, then who are you? are u your job/career? are you a role you play in life?
