I have:
- Shielded RCAs
- RCA & Speaker Wire Separate from the Power & Remote (Opposite sides of vehicle)
- Steel wooled the battery to ground connections and Engine to Ground Connections
It still makes the whine, but some interesting things that may help to know?:
It is the same HU I had when I had a whine problem in a previous vehicle, the problem was the HU was not grounded I fixed that in the previous vehicle and it went away, it isn't the case for this one. When grounding the HU it makes the SAME sound if the HU is grounded or not, I have no idea why, if anything it should sound worse if the HU isn't grounded but for some reason it doesn't, I used the same ground as the speakers for the HU, its no paint I sanded all the paint off so that shouldn't be the problem.
It only makes the sound through the amp speakers, not the subs(Like in my previous vehicle the subs would make bass for no reason along with the whine from the speakers) and the stock speakers running off the HU are not producing the whine. I checked the grounds on the amp and it is fine.
And the whine has to do with engine RPM, or having the key turned to the 'on' position.
There is one possible problem that COULD be it, but I am off to work so I don't have to try it out right now, I Just noticed is the RCAs are directional and I have them the wrong way, could this possible be the source of it?
