While driving: how to alert others of the police.

What are the usual hand gestures or light signals you give to other drivers to warn them that there is Police/HP nearby?

Also wondering if it differs much from state to state. I know that in CA, I've seen bikers tapping helmets a couple of times. While I was driving in Poland it was flashing the brights once. Driving at night I shut off my lights quickly about twice and it seems to work more than not.
