Which to choose: RE XX 2 way or eclipse 3 way

ok so ill HP it at around 175 then. i should get some good amount of bass along with some music. my last components were the eclipses and its mid was a dedicated midbass driver and i got plenty of music out of it as well as tons of excursion and bass. at about 160HP

Im confused. If your old set had a dedicated midbass driver, it was a 3-way set? Dedicated midbass means it only plays midbass, not midrange. And are you saying your last front stage was highpassed at 160hz? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
Those xxx mids should extend well below 100hz, even being run 2-way. Exactly how far below depends on your power, music, doors, etc. Start at 80hz HP, and your sub(s) LP at 80hz. Extend your mids lower from there and adjust the sub accordingly, if the mids allow it without bottoming out. Then play with the slope to fine tune.

I'm having a hard time deciding. I can get the eclipses somewhere else for around 260.00. I just sold my eclipse comps tho, got tired of them. So I wanted to try the XXX's. Soundquality wise, and midbass/bass output wise... which would be better.

im leaning towards the 3ways because i can use the money i have down on my XXX's at the shop to get the eclipse ea4000 4channel amp to run them, then order these online. He's being a dick and wont give me my money back. he has 250.00 of my money so I basicly HAVE to buy something there. So if I go with the eclipses, ill get the 4ch eclipse for 130.00 (used) and get my changed back, use the remaining money and the money im getting in the mail this week from killahbean for the xbox I sold him.

So. XXX or eclipse 3way.

Not trying to sound like a dick but i think a 3 way might be a little too much at this point. Installed correctly they can sound great, but if not ifs not going to sound as good as a set of properly set up 2 waysAre you going to run them active?

Also i would also be playing my mids esp if you go with the xxx below 160hz, i play mine down to 80 on a 12db slope with sub crossed at 63 on 12db as well

sorry 60. didnt mean to hit the one. and my last ones were 2 way eclipses, running passive. maybe it wasnt a "dedicated" midbass driver. guess i should think more before replying hehe.

cool thanks. i got my XXX's already half paid for, no refund at the shop tho. i was going to buy the eclipses also if people thought they would be better but they are right. 3way passive = fail. i havent even ran my 2ways active yet. ill just add a 4" midrange later on down the road if i want to go 3way
