Well, if you get the Premier 770 instead of the 7700 you get a much better set of preouts. The 770 has 4 volt outs with 100ohm resistance. The pioneer only has 2.2V pre-outs on it and the JVC is 4 and the eclipse is 5@55ohm.
Im still deciding lol the DVD decks are looking nice but I dont think I should spend all my xmas money....
I may go with the JVC and just buy a 4 channel off my buddy.Or I can go cheaper and get the pioneer 4600 for 129.99 CDN
Anything off of Futureshop.ca or bestbuy.ca is what im looking at.

Not if dealer installed..Eclipse..3 years. 5V@55Ohm.The pioneer for your application.770MP would be even better, it has a better warranty ( 2 yrs) and higher preout voltage.
It also has some cool features that the other H/U's dont have.
Eclipse's 8455 isn't any better if at all than the 860 and cant' touch the P9 so I wouldn't say your statement is entirely true but if you like the Eclipses better then good for you.Not if dealer installed..Eclipse..3 years. 5V@55Ohm.
Eclipse > Pioneer

The pioneer and eclipse units he is looking at are the same price. Paying the shop to install it shouldn't cost much.If he goes dealer installed then say bye bye to his price rangePioneer> Eclipse
Cool features> Butt ugly display
I can actually have the date on my h/u, crazy idea aint it !
Removable faceplate> non removable faceplate
And as adam already said P9 pwns all.
What does an 8455 retail for at a shop?? What does a P9 retail for?? I think you'll find that its NOT that much more if you're a person in pursuit of the BEST sound. I got my combo 1300 which is probably twice as much as the 8455 but of course that is including the DEQ-P9.The pioneer and eclipse units he is looking at are the same price. Paying the shop to install it shouldn't cost much.
The date on a head unit? Honestly, is that really a big deal?
The P9 might be better than the best eclipse, but for the price, it certainly should.
Detach face vs non detach face is personal preference.
I think Eclipse makes a better sounding deck overall, but the original poster just needs to check out the decks in question, and see what he likes better.
x25-6w differences in internal amps is gonna be relatively hard to hear and shouldn't be used as a deciding factor IMO.

And I still fail to see where these pre outs are that much better. 6.5 volt@100 ohm isn't that big of a difference.
