which of these boxes if any for two 15" L5s

I have two 15" L5s powered by a kx2500, and I built a wall in my accord and it turned out horrible so I'm wanting to rebuild it. I have heard mixed opinions on the recommended box size for these subs. Some say no less than 4 cubes per sub but some say 5-6 cubes total.

As I understand the general rule of thumb is SPL=small box, daily=big box so I am trying to go in between these and have a Daily/SPL setup.

Wall that is currently in my car that turned out horrible to the ear and on the meter. Lost 3 dbs goin from the trunk to this wall:

Option 1: (I know I **** at sketchup, haven't figured out how to add the 3/4 wood look) This is the design one of my buddies told me to use who is a big time competitor and has ran several walls before. He thinks the other design (option 2) is too big a box.

SPL:

Daily: (with port plug inserted, worried this is not enough port area):

Option 2: (here is the design rpfuror made up for me, much better at sketchup than I am lol)

SPL (worried this might be too much port area):

Daily: (With port plug inserted)

What do you guys think? One of these or should I try to come up with another design? Remember this is for a daily/SPL setup in a wall. Two 15" Kicker L5s with a KX2500.

Really wanting some input on this so I can get started hopefully sometime this week. I dont want this one to turnout bad like the last one. If I cant get it this time I'm forgetting the wall and goin back to the trunk.

what do you gotta do to get some input around here?

I know there are alot of ppl on here that have L5s or L7s and I know there alot of competitors on here.

I'm just not getting any responses.

Because you post a ****ing thread every other week about it. **** ppl get tired of helping you.

oh yeah?

I thought that one of the main reasons of having a forum like this was so people can help other people. If I could acttually get some people to respond to my topics I wouldn't have to make so many topics......and each topic is not the exact same thing either.

Back sorta to topic, Ive got my L5s sold for $400 here locally so when I get the money from him im ordering L7s.

But I really would like some good input on the box.

id just go back to the trunk. build a box inside the trunk and maybe face the subs and port forward and seal it off from the trunk
thats what i did before. everything was facing foward and sealed it off the best I could.

The guy just came and picked up my L5s for $400....so im about to order L7s.

Well if im not gonna get any suggestions on the box then I will probably just do option 2.

I just think there might be too much port area.

Ordered my two dual 4 ohm 2006 L7s today! They will be here this Friday! I hope its worth the upgrade.

I think I'm just gonna build option 2 here in the next few days, unless someone convinces me otherwise. Option 2 looks the best to me, but i could be wrong. I just want it to pound.

Build both FTW?
BUT if you HAD to choose I would probally try out option 2 first
Thats what I was thinkin myself, option 2. I just dont know if 132.5 square inches is too much port area for two L7s. I figure with the daily port plug it will be fine since it will cut the port area down to 80 some odd square inches.

Put both woofers on the passenger side. Leave the face open as much as possible on the driver's side for the port. Play test tones with no tuning on the port other than the thickness of the face. (low to medium vol) Find what frequency peaks in your ride.

Make the box as large as possible, because it's alot easier to put in bracing, 45s, rounding corners and other things to take up airspace than it is to rip it out and start over because it is too small. Make sure to brace the face to the back of the box.

Then, build the port towards peaking at that freq. A lot of people just use 2 x 4's from top to bottom in the port mouth starting near the speaker. Keep stacking the two by fours on top of each other until you start to lose DBs. Then, you can take out 2x4's and extend the port depth .. trial and error. . But, the meter wont lie.

Now, this all takes time. So, in the mean time. .. Make sure you have a board to cover the port and seal it up. This way you can have a large sealed box that will DROP DEEP for daily riding until you work out the exact port.

Once you figure out your SPL port .. build an insert that makes sense for daily.

Someone I know on another forum

Just wondering y didn't you buy the dual 2 ohm L7's because the 2500 is 2 ohm stable and will run more efficient at 2 ohms than 1 ohm. So it will be easier on your electrical.

I thought about that. Running at it 2 ohms daily, then burp it at 0.5 ohm for comp. But I figured after box rise and everything I would prolly just be better off running it at 1 ohm.

I should be gettin a kinetik 2400 pretty soon.
