Which Engineering Major?

Right now I'm stuck on which major I should choose. It's between Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer/Computer Software Engineering. I'm a math/Physics person (were my best subjects in school). Anyways, I'm looking for something that will make me a lot of money, and also something that I could use to start my own business. Anybody here have a career involving any of these or that are currently studying them?

they're all good, it just depends how much work you want to put in it. i'm a manufacturing engineer, but i started as a EE. i couldn't stand programming after 2 years, so i switched majors. i graduated about a year ago, and it's been good so far //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

IMO, Mechanical sounds the funnest...even though I **** at it. But Electrical will ALWAYS have you huge job market with lots of $$$ to go around.

Well I'm not sure I would like computer software engineering. i don't want to spend 10 hours a day programming. I want something that makes very good money, but doesn't mke me want to kill myslef everyday. I guess i need to know what careers are available for each degree. what do mechanical/civil engineers do really?

I was originally CE and two years ago changed to EE (4th year right now). There is a fair amount of programming in these majors, including mechanical, but I would say mechanical would be the most fun. And if you are truly good at math/physics, mechnical would be a good fit.

If you are only concerned about making a lot of money after immediately graduating, CS/CE/EE usually takes it. But word of advice, start finding jobs/internships as soon as you get into school (in any field) because they will usually make more money than those that just spent their times studying. Example, friend of my in Econ worked few different internships, and was offered $70k starting with bonuses after he graduated. Me with my EE major hopes to find at least $50k starting.

Mechincal engineering deals with anything moving pretty much. And I mean anything. If it moves, it can be put into ME. Civil engineering has to do with structures, buildings, bridges, tunnels, etc. and how to make them safe and how long they will last.
