Which box ?

which box is best for what ? , i have a 800watt 15" sub and have plans of making my own box for it. i have a endless supply of HDF so i am going to make 4 types , sealed ,ported,bandpass,and dual reflex . just too see which the sub goes best in but what do yous think which will be the loudest , which will sound best , which will be best over all ???

hass trouble with low bass notes

What kind of sub is it? Some subs aren't made for ported or bandpass, whereas some are strictly made for ported. And you should use MDF, it is much stronger and more durable

how is medium density fiber board stronger then high density fiber board. i check my sub can go into any of the 4 boxes

high density is made up of larger flakes then the medium density,

I have used both and the mdf is stronger and works a lot better than the hdf, but it works ok if that is all you have

Has anyone tried making a box with nice hardwood? Like oak, Cherry, maybe some nice maple?? The wood is nice and hard plus you could make the box look beautiful especially black cherry.

well i've seen some made of it...not as good as mdf......you might think about planing the wood down pretty thin and adding it as kinda a cover for the box to make it look like its made of the oak or cherry...i think cherry w/ a nice pattern carved into it and a nice thick coat of lacquer on it would look pretty sweet....just an opinion though...good luck

Really then why does high-end home audio like Wilson audio and otheres like that . use HDF for their boxes if i'am paying $96,000 for a set of speakers i would want the best
