which bass knobs work with memphis 4k?

thats what i'd thought before, since they all use the same type of connection wire, but when i tried using my american bass knob with my kicker amp it wouldn't work.

forgot i even had that knob until you said any would work, i'll give it a shot when i get the memphis back from zed audio.

They are not all the same, pin assignments are different on different brands usually.

is there any chance of damaging an amp from hooking up the wrong type bass knob?

controls the % of the gain you have your amp set for. so if you gain on the amp is set at say, 1/3 and your gain knob is all the way up, it will be the same as if you had no gain knob hooked up.

i've heard hearsay of gain knobs being bass boosts... i'm assuming this would be on extremely shitty amps though, and that no quality manufacturer of amps would do something so ridiculous.

Knob controls the gain, not the bass boost.

ok that makes sense, so that would be good in an application like mine. When I compete I will be getting clamped, so to compete in a lower class I could just turn down the gain till i'm getting the right wattage...

no, but zed fixes anything. he's done a crossfire vr2000d and an american bass vfl 200.1 for me.

haven't gotten the repair price yet, he's only had it for a few days.
