Which Alpine to get?

Hello. I am looking for a high end Alpine and am deciding between a few different models: 7915, 7949 (This would be the handsdown winner if it had a rotating knob instead of up and down switches), and 9815. I wanted a "made in Japan" unit that I could afford (between $100-200) and I have seen these for around that price range. I would love a 7969 if I could find one in that range. Any other suggestions for other units would be highly appreciated. My criteria is high sound quality, low noise. Let me know what you guys think would be the best choice for me! Thank you!

I had a 7949 years back.. great unit but don't even think about playing burned CD's on it. I could sometimes get the Black CD's to work. The 9835 has been my favorite or even the 7998. Didn't care for the 9887 (last 3way active unit). My buddy has a 9815 I installed for him a long time ago and its been running like a champ! Good luck with whatever you get.

Wish I could say the same.. the 9887 was the only radio I ever had go out on me. It also feels cheap compared to the older models.
