hey there everyone

im looking for a good 8" mibass driver for my doors, i going to change my setup in the next few weeks, and id like some suggestions.

currently im running the ID OEM's active, the have good mid bass but the upper range suffers a little.

so im going to glass my doors, and do 1 8" midbass and 2 aa polys in each door. so i can have a 3 way front active system

so im going to be looking for a good midbass that delivers in the 75-250hz range, to play the in between frequencies, between the sub cutoff and midrange cutoff point.

this is what i had in mind

sub 30-75hz

midbass 75-250hz

midrange 250-2.5khz

tweet 2.5-20khz

what do you guys suggest?

If you can fit them, Peerless SLS's are considered to be the best for the money.

One question, why are you using 6.5" mids as the midrange in your 3-way? Because you already have them? I personally think that running a pair of 3" or 4" fullrange drivers in each door would better suit your needs. You could run them from 250hz to 6-8k and have the entire vocal range covered by one set of speakers instead of having to split to vocals with a tweeter.

The SLS's are great midbass drivers as are the Dayton RS225's. What's your budget, could mean the difference between running one of the above options or Dynaudio or Morel 8's.

i was thinking about doing 2 4" drivers instead of the 6.5"

If he's only wanting to cross up to 250hz with the midbass, then there's really no need to look anywhere else that the SLS's, as Morels and Dyns are most usefully used in a 2-way setup with a tweeter that can cross low or a horn, since they can be crossed a good deal higher than the SLS's.
