Which 1000w amp to get? Looking for efficiency!

Looking for efficiency so I can get as much as I can out of my Civic. I have a 170amp alt, and at idle it does 120-130 effective amps. (Depending on how hot it is) A bigger alt and the belt will slip.

I was thinking of getting a kicker dx1000.1, but i'm not sure how efficient their amps are. (Any input on this?)

My other option was to step up the wattage a bit and get a Hifonics ZRX1500.1D. It will do 1500 @ 1ohm, but how efficient is it?

Which would be a better bet for me? I don't want to burn up the Hifonics from it trying to pull more then I can supply. I'm going to purchase an American Bass XFL 12". I'll decide on the D2 or the D4 ohm voice coil version after I decide which amp I'm going to get. I know it can handle 2k daily, but I don't want to step into that category yet. I only have 4AWG wiring (True AWG) for my amp and want to get as much as I can out of it.

Suggestions on which route to take?

that alternator is plenty for either of those listed amps. the zeus 1500 will be fine on the xfl. upgrade wiring to some 1/0 first tho. amps are all pretty efficient now, enough for you not to have to calculate it as a part of your build.

I don't want to spend another hundred bucks on 0 AWG just for my amp. I spent a lot just for the big 3. Which is another reason I was questioning efficiency. Thanks for the suggestions though guys. The max the ZRX1500 will take is 4 guage, would I be safe running 4 guage on it? It's all I got.

hifonics amps are not efficient at all ,most are 75% or less at 4 ohms ,so at 1 ohm ,not good at all.american bass amps will be a better option if you want efficient at a decent price .i have all of them on sale til friday midnight

If you want a really efficient amp i would look at fosgate r-1000d i loved mine for being a cheap good quality amp of coarse mine was an 09 model i think very efficient

i have a stock 115 amp alt and run a DD 1500w mono block and a A/B 90wx4 megaloud amp and my voltage drops to 13v. the only upgrade in electricail ive done is a Kinetic 1800 under the hood. what im saying is you have nothing to worry about.

If you want a really effeicent amp look into a DD M1c, SA 1200, DC1.2 or IA 20.1. it really depends on your budget

Not to thread jack, but what year is your civic? I have an '04 and have been looking for a higher output salt then the stock 70A one...lol

Thanks for the suggestions guys. It's a 99' Civic. I got mine from Mechman. Very good alt imo. I was going to get the 240 but a rep suggested the 170 cause the 240 might cause belt slip from the load.

It seems like nobody answered my original question and keeps trying to sell me amps without really helping me. I could get the Kicker amp I mentioned for cheap. Or I liked the American Bass VFL 80.1 that was mentioned. But i'd get it brand new for $250. I wouldn't immagine it would be efficient @ 1ohm but I'm unsure.
