When does additional become necessary?

I don't have a high output alternator or whatever, so when might a capacitor or an alternator be necessary ?

I was going to run an autotek 1400d for 2 12" subs and another 4ch for my 5/12's and 6x9s but I am not sure if I will have problems power wise.

Can someone remind me what "The big 3" are again please as well?
