im sure its prolly a mixture of everything but im just curious as i am on a subwoofer hunt and want to obviously get the best bang for my buck and just curious what all to look at when purchasing a sub

it all depends on what kind of sound you are wanting

you going for an SPL only install? straight SQ? or a little bit of both for an SQL setup.

do you already have an amp? whats your budget?

this was more of a general question than a what sub should i buy not a brand war or anything if you had to labels in front of you with all the subs info excluding the brand name and price

Some of the things I look at are the Fs of the driver. I primarily like ones that have a low Fs, usually mid 20's and lower. I also look for efficiency. I can care less if the sub takes several thousand watts. If I can use less power to get the same output, why not? RMS isn't everything, though my style of music is different than most people here. I like ability to get fairly loud when needed, but I generally listen to music at moderate levels.
