because a cap stores additional power to be used plus your battery plus ya alt. .......

thats not what a cap is for. its suppost to help your amps with voltage and since '85 (thats when caps were being used for this purpose) amp design has for the most part delt with this with its own on board capactance. most "caps" sold today have a resistance too high to matter but the fact it slows down your dimming lights makes you think its working even though your amp/amps are probably seeing .1 to .3 less voltage. while using it.

people argue about it all the time but you apply the actual math and the test with and without i have never seen definate proof that it improved anything, now 1 person claimed a large system wouldnt work without a "supercap" but on the other hand i have seen 10X larger systems work without a single cap.

If a cap will stop my lights from dimming and if it will stop the people across the street at a red light from laughing at me...then it is worth it. Also, it seems to give me an overall smoother sound...I guess its because it moderates the flow and makes it more consistant...but thats just what it seems like to me.

Actually back in my noob days I bought this 5 frad Lanzar cap. It had nice blue lights all over it and it made the inside of my car look cool... Anyway the cap did eliminate my dimming.

I have a cap, had it installed, took it out. No dimming either way. Am I just not running enough power, or does my Taurus have a ubër-alternator? =p
