What's your take on fusing

I've got a fuse just after the front battery and just before the rear. My runs from the rear battery to the amp are only going to be about 12" long at the most and in a spot where they aren't going to be pinched or touched. Would you guys fuse the hot wires to the amp?
Absolutely!Could be one way of actually saving your amp/amps as well as saving your vehicle from possibly catching fire!!All my systems are ran to a Fused distro at the amps, and at the main runs at the Batts

Even if there were fuses on the side of my amp(s), I would still fuse. Just because, it's available so why not.

So people don't but that's their high dollar amp or sub if something decides to go wrong. Rather have a $3.50 fuse blow on me than a 1000 dollar amp get ruined.

This makes sense but why would a fuse in between two batteries matter?

I havent fused in years.

But that is more a function of being lazy. Although, i do feel fuses are uneeded in GOOD installs. I still suggest others to fuse tho. It serves a purpose

If damage occurs to the vehicle or wiring the fuse stop an almost certian fire.

There is good reason your cars electronics are fused //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you are running one battery up front and tying in to the rear battery...That run of wiring is running through the firewall all the way to the rear if not protected by a fuse can possibly get hot enough that the jacket on the wiring can get hot enough and melts and catch the vehicle on fire.I know because back in the late 80s/early 90s, most people did not fuse properly, and you would see burnt carpet along with side of the seats ect..No one really knew any better as we do today..especially with Internet and forums like this that we did not have. Most was Trial and error, and experimental.
