well a friend of mine called me up cuz he was having problems with his amp (kept shutting off randomly) its a kicker zx350.4 and its powering 4 polk audio DB571 speakers (60rms) and was telling me how it kept shutting off on him, while i was figuring out that problem (which i have yet to do cuz when i was over it wasnt shutting off like he said) i noticed his back speakers werent working... so i took his door panels off, its a 2004 ford 150 btw, and his speakers were connected and everything, he said they stopped working when he rolled the windows down, however both back speakers were out and i checked with a DMM on the speakers if they were blown, the DMM read 1 on both speakers (their 4 ohm speakers) on both.. got me nowhere.. i checked voltage on the speaker wires where the speakers connected to and it showed proper voltage was going through the wires.. so he left and i kept both of the speakers

so i got to my house, checked them again with a DMM one read 8.2 ohms, the other still just 1... i hooked them up, one at a time to my front stage amp to test them, one of them (the one that read 1) was playing VERY quit i had just my front stage amp and fader on front so it was the only thing playing, sub amp was disconnected.. i had the HU on 35 (highest volume) and it sounded like someone was wispering in my ear, i then tried the other one (the one that read 8.2 ohms) played NOTHING, then (and idk what made me decide to do this) i pushed the woofer in (they are both coaxial btw) and it played, so im like "wtf" i let off, it didnt play.. pushed on it again, it played.. so this speaker only plays when the woofer is being pushed on (loose tensil leads maybe?)

what could be wrong with these speakers to make them do this? they were also purchased on cruthfield a few months ago, will they take them back? (they were installed professionally by a local place called car tunes)

prolly the tinsels, maybe bad channels on the amp.the rcas are ran wrong..i think one is either blown or maybe just the woofer on the speaker is blown and the tweeter is fine..somethign around that but id prolly look around on the tinsels of the speakers

tinsels look fine though, however hard to get to and a hard fix without taking everything a part, might as well recone the **** thing while i do it

he's just gonna send them back to crutchfield, their still under warranty.. hes gonna see if he can just get CF credit back cuz hes planning on buying a set of comps anyways and put his other set of polks in the back doors (he bought 2 sets)
