What's a good Rockford Fosgate system for my car?

I have a Hyundai Sonata 2002 with a good kenwood head unit and factory tweeters and speakers. I listen to a lot of electro house and mostly stuff with a fair bit of bass!!.

I can't afford a sub right now so i'm just getting speakers and possibly an amplifier.

My questions are: Are component speakers that much better than coaxle and worth the extra money?

Will an amplifier do any good, especially for getting extra bass, or is running off head unit fine?

And is punch that much better than prime speakers?

The guy in the shop reccomended 6.5" component for front and 6.9" prime for rear..

I've tried Alpine Type S and it was pretty much the same audio..

They aren't bad. I use the T152S' and I like them just fine. I also have a friend that uses a couple sets of them and he likes them just fine too.

I'd think about finding an online store that'll ship to Australia. Shipping will probably cost a bit, but you should still be able to buy something better than the shop is offering for the same amount of money. Basically, I'm saying that you shouldn't limit yourself to the stock of any one particular shop...

Well when I was in the store the bloke goes on about how alpine have the best head units but for speakers Rockford are better/as good.

It's impossible to tell the quality of the speakers in a big store though..

Well regardless of which brand speakers I get, what about the coaxle speakers vs component speakers...

And what does an amp do to basic speakers, will it do anything??

Component speakers are generally made with better materials, handle more power, sound better and are just basically more impressive than coaxials. I'm not saying there aren't good coaxials out there, but more often than not components are better. Amplifying speakers, whether they be coaxials or components, is beneficial as well. Properly installing the equipment plays a huge part in the overall performance too...

Thanks mate that's exactly what I wanted to hear, I want them to last a while so I reckon I'll go component then..

But is an amp worth the few hundred dollar investment? Even the basic ones?

And bloke as in you're a top bloke. Aussie way for dude I guess.
