So when this rebate check gets here, I'm planning on blowing it (go economy!) on a set of subs, an amp, and with whatever's left materials to build a custom box and amp rack to fit nice in my trunk. I'll ask for help with THAT too, lol.

Anyshit I'm at this custom audio shop looking at all these subs...JL Audios, MTXs, Kickers, Powerbass (whatever THAT is), and Quantum Audio. I light up every single button on the wall (not at the same time, of course) to preview all kinds of different amp and sub combos, but the ones I noticed MOST were the Quantums. Was it the enclosure, maybe? The shop guy keeps his entire product line on the wall, so I assume all of the subs are encased in the same type of individual box...behind the wall?

My question is this. Are Quantum Audios good enough to "outshove" the JL W7, MTX TR75, and Kicker Solo Baric L7??? Because I'm telling you the guy is letting TWO of these...

go for $129.99 plus tax. I figure at that price, for the size and power of the subs (750 watts RMS), I should be worried about what I call the "dope factor"...you know, when you show someone your subs and they're like, "Dooooooooope!"

Any thoughts on these subs? Are they any good? They pound really nice in a square room on a wall being pushed by a Fosgate p1000.

I'm not sure about all of that, I mean, I just want a little notoriety when I cruise. SQ? SQL?? SPL??? Man I just learned my ohms...like how when you wire two 4 ohm subs to get a 2 ohm load. I'm a NOOOOOOOOOOOOOB, straight up. I know what people tell me, and all of my friends who have systems swear by the JL Audios, Kickers, Fosgates, and Hifonics. Me? I haven't a clue.

Well, lil buddy at the shop yesterday told me if I take those Quantums (which are 2 ohm each) then I could wire them parallel and bridge them to whatever amp I want and get a 1 ohm load...that is IF the amp is stable at 1 ohm.

Alright then well what are we looking at here? Are you wanting to upgrade your entire sound system of just add some subs in there to make it bump? Because if you buy some good subs, you'll need a set of speakers to keep up with them.

Ballin'.........you are correct about the ohm load. Two single 4 ohm subs wired together would come at 2ohm final load.

pjvoc..........You are thinking of a Dual Voice coil sub, which would be like having two single VC subs as far as wiring goes..... Example: Two Dual 2ohm subs wired together would come to a .5ohm load in parallel and 2ohm series.

As for what equipment you should run.....900 bucks can actually get you a ways...

Do as much research as possible and read alot on the forums. Reading on forums will teach you so much. Check the sticky's at the top of the page also

I do not know anything about those quantum audio subs, but it seems cool that the 12inch only needs 1.5cu ported. That is a pretty small box.

But since they are only 129.00 at a retail store.... in most cases you usually get what you pay for there.

Just search around the net, you will find out equipment that you never knew existed...

Tricky situation. I have a '96 Cadillac Seville SLS. I'm not sure if it has the Bose premium sound, there's no identification on the HU or anything. A guy who does installs at that shop said that if I have the Bose then I'll have to rewire my whole system...something to do with the components not being able to work with whatever HU I want. I don't know.

So I bought a 80 gb Zune...and use it through my radio with the FM transmitter. I have my subs and amp attached to the speaker wire attached to the 6X9s in my trunk via a converter.

I would love to do my whole system. $900??? Every shop I've been to has quoted me $900 just to install a $400 CD player...without ever TOUCHING my system because none of them know if it's Bose or not.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

The guy who owns the shop knows my father from whenever, and they still remain friends. He discounted those for me, however much I don't know. I just seen them, was like "how much" and he said $129...there's no prices on the wall with the equipment. Inquiry only, he's a salesman.
