If nothing else gave it away, that ^ did. Pro-sound drivers in car audio are rarely a good idea. You want good output from a small enclosure, not a big enclosure, and you also want it to play LOW, which most pro-sound drivers aren't designed to do.

It should be noted you are referring to subwoofers only. Many a pro-audio driver has been used successfully in a front stage.

I should have known I would have missed specifying "subwoofer" in the subwoofer section and I would have gotten caught. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Yes I meant subwoofer.

...but on the note of pro audio drivers in car audio - knock yourself out with that. They're typically very large (10" midranges) and/or deep (horns). I know that horns have been used before, but a lot of pro audio drivers have less-than ideal response plots as a trade off for efficiency. I'm not saying all of them are like that, but they're just less than ideal IMO.

I suppose I'm too used to having room in my installs. I haven't had kicks in over 3 years and I love it. But that's getting off topic. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

You have to select the right pro audio driver for the application. Im not suggesting many people use 10" mids in kick panels. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Either way, its not common, but it definitely can be done successfully. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Or you could just build a baffle and use the entire trunk as a pseudo-enclosure/psuedo-IB.....solves both problems at once //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Sealing off the trunk and buying multiples of that speaker will end up costing more money and time than it would just buying a good car audio subwoofer. When IB'd, that whopping 4mm of Xmax will get used up in a hurry.

Sorry, should have specified I wasn't talking about that driver in-particular....which I agree would be a poor choice for anything subbass related in car audio.

Was just talking about the small enclosure/big enclosure statement in general //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
