To be honest, I didn't like my DR 21". The box was to spec but it just didn't get loud. I only had it on a 9.1 though.

Yep. Which is why I'm leaning towards the 4 12"s, but was just seeing what others would do.

The four 12's have more cone area, and more motors to soak up the heat and combat power compression. If this is just about performance, the 12's are the clear choice.
