I have a 2002 silverado that i blew the factory 4x6s in. would you guys put some more 4x6s in or should i try to make a plate and put in some 3.5s or 5 1/4s if they will fit.

I'd go with option #2. There is a much larger selection of 5.25's, 3,5's or 4's that can fit in there than there are 4x6's.

mdf, 3/8's or 1/2 inch will do nicely, and give you a solid base to mount a speaker to.

Some companies make 4x6 plates with a midbass and tweeter in them. Bolts right into stock locations.

That'd be a good option too. It'll save ya the hassle of having to fab something up...

Clarion had some really GREAT plates back in the day. Got pretty loud and clean. Didn't have the best midbass, but not horrible.

try boston acoustics sa746 ,seperate mid and tweet ,sound great in that chevy dash, 4x6 mounts perfect

Polk DB461 plates sound awesome for what they are, I have a pair I can sell you if you want.
