What would you do?

I want to buy a new amp and one or two subs.

For the amp I was thinking:

Hifonics BXi2006 2000W at $350

For the subs I was thinking either:

2x Kicker 05CVR12 12" at $70 each

OR

one Kicker Solo-Baric L5 05S12L52 12" $180

Tell me if this would be a good setup, and if you recommend a capacitor...And if you do what type, where to get it and price.

Im also considering building a cutsom full trunk amp box hinged to hide spare and other stuff.

It depends what you will be running them at, right?

first of all are the subs dual coil 2ohm or 4ohm?

If your going to be running either setup at 1 ohm i would say you definitely dont need that powerful of an amp unless your looking to upgrade in the future.

this is assuming that the rms is 400w for the cvrs and 600 for the l5 (i think those are correct).

if thats right then i would say the go for the 2xCVR's if you have the space.

now that I look at the model number for the L5 its the dual 2ohm model. Wherever your buying the CVRs from should be able to tell you if its the dual 2ohm or dual 4ohm model.

The L5 should be able to run (hooked up to the amp) @ 1 ohm or 4 ohm.

If the CVRs are dual 4 ohm they should be able to run @ 1 ohm or 4 ohm

If the CVR's are dual 2 ohm they should be able to run @ 2 ohm or .5 ohm (im assuming this is a daily ride so you wont want to run them at .5 ohm)

do some searching on here about the pros and cons of using a cap before you wast your $ on one.....

You don't need 2kw for a L5 or 2 CVRs... that's wayyyyy too much. I say hit up a pair of CVRs and a good 1kw amp.

so whats a good 1000w amp? I was thinking this amp just because it looks really clean, and it will stay with me if i ever decide to upgrade subs later

If you like the look why dont you get the hifonics 1206D. its about 1200w rms @ 1 ohm but its a little overrated. should work nicely and you can probably find it about $100 cheaper then the 2006D. Just be careful when you set the gains on the amp and you should be fine.

see that is yet another thing I know nothing about, you should pm me with help setting everything up with my 10" JL and my BOSS amp until i get them, I thought the problem was where the rca cables attached on the inside of the amp, but i checked it out and it looks good, if gain or anything on the amp could make it work...please help
